Our interview, below:

Q: What is your original hometown & your current residency place?

A: I grew up in a town called KwaBulawayo in Zimbabwe and I reside in Johannesburg, South Africa now.

Q: Tell us in a short way about your musical background & early influences.

A: I was very young when I fell in love with music, My grandfather and uncles introduced me to Bob Marley while my mother always had country music on and they would all tell me stories about the artists, the significance of some of their songs etc. It was in high school though that my passion for music became active, I quickly became my class’s musical entertainer, there is no beat I could not imitate. With sticks, a ruler, a pen and an empty bottles, I would play different drum rhythm’s, some of my own compositions but mostly the biggest songs at the time. I also wrote and composed our high school anthem, I wonder if they still sing it.

Q: What is your favourite digital service to discover fresh new music?

A: Beatport, Youtube and Traxsource.

Q: What is the very first musical product you acquired or discovered?

A: I would say, my CD collection, a pair of headphones and my CD pouches because that is where I started. I started Dj’ng first before I learnt to produce music.

Q: Which of your own projects is exciting you the most at the moment?

A: I am quite excited about my next EP, INDLELA, it’s very experimental, the sound is bigger, the drums are harder, it’s definitely for the festival dance floors.

Q: Which are your proudest musical achievements and a genuine milestone in your  career?

A: Working with Shota, learning from him, travelling and performing with him on stages from here at home to other countries, that really cemented my presence in the industry and set me off.

And there after – Playing in Europe in 2014, The Nike Neon Run afterparty at Wanderers stadium, Playing Smoking Dragon festival in the Drakensberg, Releasing my debut album “Unorthodox” under my own label after all labels said No! And starting Connected, the events leg of my record label. I am praying for milestones to come.

Q: What is your dream gig and performance location today?

A: Haha, I have a number of them, starting off with the obvious Tomorrowland. I would love to play Sonar, Cercle, Circoloco, ADE, Tulum and more. Though these are at the peak and are every Dj’s dream, I still enjoy the smaller intimate parties and festivals where you are much closer to the people and you can have conversations and connect with anyone within the event.
