Spotify Listening Now Notes

We are excited to share that starting today, we’re launching the “Listening Now Notes” feature globally—a new way to let users express themselves creatively through music by giving them the ability to share what they are listening to on Spotify, on Instagram Notes. As a reminder, Notes are only visible to mutually followed accounts.

How Does It Work

  • Users who go to share a Music Note within IG will receive a prompt to link their Spotify account if they have not already done so.
  • Once their Spotify account is linked there will be an option for the user to share a Listening Now Note.
  • If the user is already listening to Spotify the song they are listening to will be displayed in the creation flow.
  • Tapping on the song will start a Listening Now Note.
  • If the user is not Listening to Spotify they will be prompted to go to Spotify and start a listening session.
  • The Listening Now Note will dynamically update on IG as new songs are played on Spotify.
The Note will last up to 24hrs and will show the last song listened to after 30mins of listening inactivity.

New IG Creator Features: Recaps & Celebrations

This week we launched Recaps, personalized digests that provide a new way to discover top insights, education and inspiration based on your activity on Instagram. Recaps highlight what you’re doing well, and feedback on areas to improve growth. To access your recap, go to your Professional Dashboard. This will be rolling out to accounts over the course of the next couple weeks.

We also just launched Celebrations, which appear when you hit special milestones, like when a Reel takes off, or you cross a certain follower threshold (i.e. 10,000 followers). This feature recognizes your progress through notifications, and allows you to share these wins with your community.

IG 3:4 Ratio Posts

Instagram now supports 3:4 aspect ratio photos – the native format for most phone cameras. Going forward, when you upload a 3:4 image, it will appear exactly as you shot it. This applies to single photo posts and carousels. You also still have the option to share 1:1 and 4:5 aspect ratio photos.
